McClain Impressive On Day One At U.S. Nationals

With a stellar performance Konnor McClain from Revolution Gymnastics claimed the lead after day one at the Junior Women’s U.S. Nationals held in Kansas City, MO. McClain posted 56.6 in the all-around, six-tenths ahead of Kayla DiCello from Hill’s Gymnastics who is currently in second place with a 56.0. McClain produced the top score of the day on beam 14.3/6.0 (standing Arabian, ff-ff layout two feet, standing full, ff-ff double pike). She was clean and precise on the other three events posting 14.65 on vault for her Yurchenko double twist, 14.3/5.7 on bars (inside stalder to piked Jaeger, stalder full to Maloney, full twisting double tuck) and 13.25/5.0 on floor (double layout, 1 ½ thru double pike, front tuck step out to 2 ½).

DiCello was the top scorer of the day on vault for her well-executed double twisting Yurchenko 14.7 and floor 13.7/5.6 (full twisting double layout, 1 ½ thru 2 ½, front double full and double tuck). Currently in third place is Olivia Greaves from MG Elite with 55.6. Greaves was the top worker on bars 14.45/5.9 (stalder full to stalder Shaposhikova half nicely done, high piked Jaeger, stalder piked Tkatchev to Pak, Maloney half, full twisting double tuck).

Sidney Barros from Texas Dreams is in fourth with 55.2. Skye Blakely form WOGA fell on her first event on her stalder Tkatchev but competed the rest of the meet cleanly to score 54.6, and stand on fifth place after day one.
