Senior all-around champions Kristina Vaculik (Gemini) and Nathan Gafuik (Univ. of Calgary) struck more gold Saturday as the 2012 Canadian Gymnastics Championships concluded in Regina, Sask.
Vaculik — who won her third career senior all-around title on Thursday — added individual golds on uneven bars (14.400) and balance beam (14.600), as well as the silver medal on floor exercise.
Vaculik, 19, now leads the contenders for Canada's squad for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Coached by 1980 Olympic all-around champion Yelena Davydova, Vaculik is taking the year off from her studies at Stanford University to train for London.
Ellie Black (Halifax Alta) won the gold medal on vault and the bronze medal on floor exercise (2 1/2 twist to triple twist). All-around runner-up Victoria Moors (Dynamo) won floor exercise with an exquisite combination of tumbling and artistry (watch).
The full women's squad to London will be decided after a final trials in June in Quebec.
The Canadian men qualified only one gymnast to the 2012 Olympics, and Gafuik seems certain of claiming the spot after his all-around victory. He added the gold medal on high bar to cap off his successful championships in Regina.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.
Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser.
The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
