Nastia Liukin and Samantha Peszek pulled out a few weeks after the Visa Championships in August, while Memmel made it to the second of two selection camps before making her decision.

"I have run out of time, and I am not quite where I want to be gymnastics-wise," said Memmel, who competed only on the balance beam at the Visa Championships. "I haven't been able to do the number of routines and repetitions that I need to represent the USA at the highest level."

Memmel said she and her father and coach, Andy Memmel, met with national team coordinator Marta Karolyi about her situation.

"She is very supportive of this decision," said Memmel, 21, who is still coming off ankle surgery. "I am going home and will spend the time getting my routines ready for next year."

	movin on I admire her drive and spirit but I think age has caught up with her and she may never be 100% again...I think she should move on and leave the heavy training and meets to the youngsters
